This 6 acre property includes a beautiful main house (designed by mid century modern architect John Schreiber), separate bedroom wing, self-contained boathouse, boat port, private sandy beach, and walking trails to explore the property and neighbouring Thunderbird Island. The 1000 Islands has the best fresh water boating, diving & fishing in the world & is perfect for your next vacation.
Totem Point on Tar Island is located across the St. Lawrence River at Rockport, Ontario, Canada. The 1000 Islands is internationally-renowned for its castles, cottages & 1864 Islands. It is a boater's paradise, a fisherman's playground & one of the most beautiful places on earth.
This Island property is the perfect place for families to unite & experience the 1000 Islands. The main house has a large kitchen, dining, family room with walkout, a master bedroom with full ensuite and a second bedroom downstairs. The separate bedroom wing offers 5 more bedrooms and 2 more full bathrooms. A central patio area between the main house and bedroom wing offers outdoor cooking & eating space. Tennis courts, private sandy beach, multiple patios, picnic tables, and benches along the shoreline offer guest multiple ways & views to experience Island Life in the St. Lawrence River's 1000 Islands. The self-contained boathouse offers 4 more bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom.
Guests access the property by boat only; parking for one car & docking for one boat at Hucks Marine & Resort in Rockport (located directly across from the Island property) is included in your stay.
The master bedroom on the ground floor of the main house has a king size bed, fireplace, 4 piece ensuite and walkout patio. A second bedroom with queen size mattress is located downstairs.
Five more bedrooms are available in the separate bedroom wing. Three bedrooms have king size beds, one bedroom offers a brass double bed and the fifth bedroom offers four twin beds...perfect for kids to share. Each of the bedrooms offers fantastic River views and one of the king size bedrooms offers a private walkout patio. Two full bathrooms are available in the separate bedroom wing. The boathouse offers four more bedrooms.
Bed sheets & blankets are available and included in all the bedrooms.

Summary: This was a wonderful place to stay with our large family. There are so many things to do and it's very private. There was plenty of space for our large family and was well equipped to keep everyone busy from our 2 year old right up to the adults. The only negative and it's not unexpected, is that the main kitchen is very dated and the freezer didn't work properly in the kitchen. There is a second fridge/freezer in the bar area so that wasn't a big deal. Overall it was a great place for our family holiday.

Summary: Totem Point is an amazing estate. Alot of space for outdoor activities, beautiful scenery and located conveniently close to the marina. The cottage itself is big and spacious, perfect for large groups and very well equipped. The boathouse is great, big dock, firepit area, tennis courts, beach etc. The bedrooms are super comfortable and the other amenities are a big plus. We were a group of 15 and it accomodated us comfortably. Highly reccomended!

Summary: With almost 360 degree views from the great room of this architectural gem, the home is situated to optimize your experience of all things staying on the St. Lawrence. Gorgeous sunrises start your day as you open your eyes in the master bedroom, and stunning sunsets playing board games and sipping wine at the massive harvest table, or out on the two centre patios lounging on the comfy retro patio furniture while being tantalized by dinner grilling on one of the many BBQs available. The beach is great for little kids or timid swimmers, and diving off the dock into deeper water for the more adventurous, there is no shortage of places to cool off and take in views of islands, osprey nests, gorgeous boats coming from the marina. If peace and quiet is what you seek, walk through the birches to the hammock on the point, climb the hill to the bench perched on the rocks, or sit in the front room of the boathouse. The kitchen with its pass-through window to the bar area allow cooks to fuss about in the kitchen and others to mix cocktails, make coffee, blend shakes, or pour wine in the bar area equipped with sink and stay out of the way of the cooking activities. The basement pool table room, replete with piano offered us many laughs playing pool and having sing alongs, as did the fire pit outside with our friends who brought their guitars. After a stay at Totem, you will feel like you time travelled and arrived months ago, evidenced by the very often said comment by our guests "What's the day and date anyway?" The home is also well equipped with several playpens for children, lots of toys, and a great high-chair, as well as plastic baby spoons, cups and plates. We loved our time at Totem with our friends and received rave reviews and thank you's upon our return.
